01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The imo-yōkan brûlée with wasanbon sugar has a crisp, toffee-like top. One diner said they were especially taken with the flavour of the sweet potato jelly combined with fresh cream and butter. They paired it with green tea, while another diner enjoyed the dessert with Kagoshima-grown stick hōjicha. Choosing a tea to go with a sweet is part of the pleasure of a break at Tsumugi.
For a chance to try several sweets in smaller portions, there is also a Japanese-style afternoon tea set. One visitor’s selection included Uji matcha cheesecake, a roasted soybean flour and hōjicha Mont Blanc, the imo-yōkan brûlée with wasanbon sugar, and mitarashi dango. The menu also offers grilled mitarashi dango with hōjicha cream anmitsu and kuzumochi pudding served with roasted soybean flour and kuromitsu syrup. Choose a single dessert or enjoy comparing a few.
There are savoury options too, including sea bream broth ochazuke and tarako carbonara with a mini salad. The Ario Kameari branch has a kids’ area and baby chairs, as well as a children’s menu, making it an option for a family meal or tea break.
